Description
Chamaecyparis lawsoniana ‘Pinpoint Gold’ is a striking cultivar of Lawson Falsecypress renowned for its vibrant golden-yellow foliage that provides season-long color interest in the landscape. This evergreen conifer features fine-textured, feathery needles that form a dense, pyramidal habit, making it an excellent specimen or accent plant in gardens and landscapes. Native to the Pacific Northwest of the United States, Lawson Falsecypress was first discovered in the 19th century and has since become a popular ornamental tree valued for its adaptability, moderate growth rate, and tolerance of a range of soil conditions, including moist but well-drained sites. ‘Pinpoint Gold’ distinguishes itself by its bright, yellow needle tips that create a luminous effect especially when backlit by the sun, enhancing visibility and aesthetic appeal throughout the year. This cultivar thrives in full sun to partial shade and benefits from protection against harsh afternoon sun in hotter climates to prevent needle scorch. As part of the Proven Winners portfolio, ‘Pinpoint Gold’ is celebrated for its reliable performance, low maintenance requirements, and year-round visual impact, making it a favored choice among landscapers and gardeners seeking durable, colorful evergreens.
