This All American Award Winner produces a nicely scaled down version of a classic jack-o-lantern. Fruits are produced on normal pumpkin vines and weigh about 1pounds. Flesh is well colored orange and fine grained that is excellent for pies. Seeds are semi-hulless. Tolerant to fusarium and gummy stem blight.
SOWINGPlant seed outdoors in late spring when ground is warm or start seed indoors 5-7 weeks earlier. Make a group of 3 to 5 seeds placed in a ring about 2 inches across; cover withinch of fine soil, well pressed down. Each ring of seeds is called a hill and hills should be spaced 5-10 feet apart each way.
THINNINGWhen plants are 3 to 6 inches tall (after second set of leaves appear) thin to the 3 strongest plants in each hill.
GERMINATIONGerminates in 7 to 14 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
REMARKSMay also be planted in rows 6-10 feet apart spacing plants 2-3 feet apart in the row. May also be planted among the corn. Cut pumpkins from vines with pruning shears leaving 3 inches of the stem.
