The standard salad turnip of the South. This variety is grown principally for its tender foliage which may be cooked as greens. Also produces a white globed-shaped turnip of good quality. Tops are large, plentiful, and mild, delicate flavor.
SOWINGPlant seed outdoors as soon as the ground can be worked. Plant in rows 15 inches apart, spacing seedinch apart in the row. Cover seed withinch of soil, well pressed down.
THINNINGWhen plants are 2 to 3 inches tall, thin or transplant, spacing plants 2 to 3 inches apart.
GERMINATIONGerminates in 7 to 14 days depending on soil and temperature conditions.
REMARKSFor first crop, plant as early in spring as ground can be worked. Plant late in summer for fall crop.
