Description
Begonia x hybrida ‘Viking Explorer Red on Green’ is a vibrant wax begonia cultivar prized for its striking contrast of glossy green foliage and bright red flowers. This hybrid begonia is part of the Viking Explorer series known for its vigorous growth, exceptional heat tolerance, and disease resistance, making it an excellent choice for both containers and landscape beds in warm climates. The waxy texture of the leaves and flowers helps reduce moisture loss, allowing the plant to thrive in full sun to partial shade conditions. Originating from hybridization efforts aimed at enhancing ornamental qualities, ‘Viking Explorer Red on Green’ continues the legacy of begonias as a popular bedding plant dating back to the 19th century, valued for their long blooming period and adaptability. This cultivar embodies the balance of robust performance and aesthetic appeal, contributing to its recognition among gardeners seeking low-maintenance yet showy garden plants.
