Description
Malus x Gibson Golden Apple is a hybrid crabapple tree celebrated for its vibrant golden-yellow fruit, which sets it apart from the more common red or green crabapple varieties. This ornamental tree showcases a dense, rounded canopy with glossy green foliage that turns attractive shades of yellow and orange in the fall, adding multi-season interest to landscapes. Originating from deliberate hybridization efforts to create a crabapple with distinctive fruit color and strong disease resistance, Malus x Gibson Golden Apple combines aesthetic appeal with practical garden performance. The fragrant, white to pale pink blossoms in spring attract pollinators, enhancing biodiversity. This cultivar has gained recognition for its robust tolerance to common crabapple diseases such as apple scab and fire blight, making it a reliable choice for both urban and suburban settings. Its unique golden fruit also contributes to wildlife support by providing food for birds and other animals well into late autumn.
