Description
Rhaphiolepis indica ‘Snow White’, commonly known as Indian Hawthorn, is a compact evergreen shrub prized for its glossy, dark green leaves and abundant clusters of fragrant white flowers that bloom in spring. Native to Southeast Asia, this cultivar is valued for its dense, rounded form and year-round ornamental appeal, making it a popular choice for hedges, foundation plantings, and low-maintenance landscapes in warm climates. The ‘Snow White’ variety is particularly noted for its superior disease resistance compared to other Indian Hawthorns, especially against leaf spot, enhancing its durability and aesthetic longevity. Its adaptability to a range of soil conditions and tolerance to drought further contribute to its popularity in Southern and coastal gardening. Indian Hawthorn has been recognized by horticultural societies for its versatility and ease of care, solidifying its status as a reliable landscape staple.
