Description
Salvia nemorosa ‘Apex Blue’, commonly known as Woodland Sage, is a striking perennial valued for its vibrant violet-blue flower spikes that bloom profusely from late spring through early summer. This cultivar belongs to the Salvia genus, which has a rich history rooted in traditional medicinal and ornamental uses dating back centuries across Europe and Asia. ‘Apex Blue’ is noted for its compact, well-branched growth habit, reaching about 18 to 24 inches in height, making it highly suitable for borders, mass plantings, and pollinator gardens. The aromatic gray-green foliage adds textural interest even when the plant is not in bloom, and its drought tolerance and deer resistance make it a resilient choice for sustainable landscapes. Woodland Sage thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, attracting bees and butterflies, contributing to biodiversity. Its reliable reblooming habit and vigorous growth have earned it recognition among gardeners and landscape professionals for both aesthetic appeal and ecological value.
