Description
Achillea x ‘Firefly Amethyst’, commonly known as Firefly Amethyst Yarrow, is a striking perennial hybrid renowned for its vibrant magenta-purple flower clusters that bloom profusely from late spring through summer. Developed by Proven Winners, this cultivar is prized for its compact mounding habit, typically growing 15 to 18 inches tall, making it ideal for borders, rock gardens, and pollinator-friendly landscapes. Like other yarrows, Firefly Amethyst is drought-tolerant and thrives in full sun with well-drained soil, exhibiting excellent heat and humidity tolerance, which contributes to its long-lasting blooms and low maintenance requirements. Its finely divided fern-like foliage adds year-round visual interest, and the plant attracts beneficial insects such as butterflies and bees, supporting garden biodiversity. The Firefly series is recognized for combining vivid flower colors with robust disease resistance and reblooming tendencies, distinguishing it from traditional Achillea varieties. This cultivar’s notable performance and landscape appeal have made it a favorite among gardeners seeking vivid color and resilience in perennial plantings.
