Description
Buxus hybrid ‘Calgary’ Boxwood is a robust and versatile evergreen shrub prized for its dense, compact growth habit and rich green foliage, making it an excellent choice for formal hedges, borders, and foundation plantings. Developed through hybridization to enhance hardiness and disease resistance, ‘Calgary’ is particularly well-suited for colder climates withstanding USDA zones 4 through 8, which sets it apart from many traditional boxwoods that struggle in harsh winters. This cultivar features small, ovate leaves with a glossy texture that maintain their color year-round, providing consistent structure and visual appeal in the landscape. Originating from careful breeding programs aimed at improving boxwood performance, ‘Calgary’ has gained popularity for its ability to tolerate pruning and shaping, making it a favored selection for topiary and low-maintenance hedging. Its exceptional adaptability and resilience have earned it recognition by horticultural experts and growers focused on sustainable, long-lasting landscape plants.
