Description
Dianthus caryophyllus, commonly known as the carnation, is a beloved flowering plant celebrated for its richly fragrant, ruffled blooms and long-lasting vase life. The Oscar Salmon and White variety features striking bi-colored flowers with vibrant salmon pink petals edged in crisp white, making it a standout in floral arrangements and garden displays alike. Originating from the Mediterranean region, carnations have a long horticultural history dating back over 2,000 years and have been cultivated extensively for their ornamental and symbolic significance. This particular cultivar combines the classic charm of Dianthus with a modern twist in coloration, offering both visual appeal and versatility in cutting gardens and landscapes. Carnations are valued for their adaptability, thriving in well-drained soils with full sun exposure, and they attract pollinators such as butterflies. Their enduring popularity is underscored by their frequent use in professional floristry and garden design, with numerous cultivars recognized for exceptional bloom quality and resilience.
