Description
Hosta ‘Silk Road’ is a strikingly elegant cultivar of the popular shade-loving perennial commonly known as Plantain Lily. Renowned for its large, smooth, and glossy leaves that exhibit a unique blue-green to silvery-green hue, ‘Silk Road’ offers a refined texture and coloration that makes it a standout in shaded garden beds and borders. This variety boasts a vigorous growth habit and forms dense clumps, making it an excellent groundcover or accent plant. Like other hostas, it produces delicate pale lavender flowers in midsummer that attract pollinators such as bees and hummingbirds. The ‘Silk Road’ cultivar is prized for its resilience in shady environments, tolerance to varying soil conditions, and its low-maintenance nature, making it a favorite among gardeners seeking both aesthetic appeal and durability. The development of ‘Silk Road’ reflects the ongoing breeding efforts aimed at enhancing foliage quality and plant performance, contributing to the rich horticultural history of hostas, which have been cultivated extensively since their introduction from East Asia in the 19th century.
