Description
Leucanthemum x superbum ‘White Magic’, commonly known as the White Magic Shasta Daisy, is a striking perennial renowned for its large, pure white, daisy-like blooms with bright yellow centers that brighten gardens throughout summer. This cultivar is a hybrid derived from the original Shasta Daisy, developed in the early 20th century by renowned plant breeder Luther Burbank, who sought to create a more vigorous and floriferous form of the native Leucanthemum species. ‘White Magic’ is prized for its exceptional disease resistance and long blooming period, making it a reliable and low-maintenance choice for borders, cottage gardens, and cut flower arrangements. Growing to about 2 to 3 feet in height with sturdy stems, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Its classic, timeless appeal and adaptability have made it a favorite among gardeners and landscapers alike. The cultivar’s excellence has been recognized by horticultural societies, affirming its status as a superior Shasta Daisy variety.
