Description
Annual
Height 2feet
The Zinnia is one of the most popular flowers today. The California Giant Mixture, with its bold masses of bright color, is unexcelled for cutting. The tall plants also make ideal tall beds or background plantings. Blossoms are about 4 to 5 inches across and are borne on long stems.
SOWINGSow seed outdoors as soon as the danger of frost is past or start indoors 4 to 6 weeks earlier. Plant seedinch deep and cover with fine soil, well pressed down.
THINNINGWhen plants are 2 to 4 inches high, thin or transplant to 24 to 30 inches apart.
GERMINATIONGerminates in 5 to 7 days depending on soil and temperature conditions.
REMARKSZinnias thrive during hot weather in well fertilized soil, with moderate water. As one of the easiest kinds of zinnia to grow from seed, a single row will provide plenty of blooms for cutting. May be sown until the end of July.
