Description
Anacis (Coreopsis) verticillata ‘Sizzle & Spice Red Hot Vanilla’ is a striking cultivar of threadleaf tickseed renowned for its vibrant bicolor flowers and finely textured foliage. This perennial features narrow, thread-like leaves characteristic of Coreopsis verticillata, providing a delicate, airy backdrop to its uniquely colored blooms that combine fiery red centers with creamy vanilla-yellow edges, creating a dramatic contrast that brightens garden beds and borders. Native to North America, Coreopsis verticillata has been appreciated historically for its drought tolerance, long bloom period, and attractiveness to pollinators such as butterflies and bees. The ‘Sizzle & Spice Red Hot Vanilla’ selection builds on this heritage by offering enhanced garden performance with a compact, well-branched habit reaching approximately 12-18 inches in height, thriving in full sun with well-drained soil. Its extended bloom time from mid-summer to fall makes it an excellent choice for adding continuous color and texture. This cultivar exemplifies the trend towards bicolored Coreopsis varieties that combine ornamental appeal with ecological benefits. It has garnered recognition within horticultural circles for its ornamental uniqueness and reliability in landscape use.
