Description
Ilex x meserveae ‘Magical Amore’ is a striking evergreen holly hybrid known for its compact, dense growth habit and glossy, dark green leaves that provide year-round interest in the landscape. This cultivar is a result of careful hybridization between Ilex aquifolium and Ilex latifolia, developed by the Meserve family, renowned for their contributions to holly breeding. ‘Magical Amore’ is particularly valued for its rich, vibrant red berries that persist well into winter, attracting birds and adding seasonal color to gardens. Its moderate size and tolerance for a range of soil conditions make it an excellent choice for foundation plantings, hedges, or specimen displays in USDA zones 6 through 9. This holly is also appreciated for its relative pest and disease resistance, requiring minimal maintenance once established. Recognized by horticultural societies for its ornamental appeal, ‘Magical Amore’ continues to be a popular selection among landscapers and gardeners seeking a versatile, attractive evergreen shrub with proven garden performance.
