Description
Tillandsia tectorum, commonly known as the Ecuador Air Plant, is a captivating epiphytic species native to the arid highlands of Peru and Ecuador. Distinguished by its dense coating of fine, white trichomes, this air plant has a unique silvery-white appearance that helps it absorb moisture and reflect intense sunlight in its natural environment. Unlike many other Tillandsias, T. tectorum thrives in dry, sunny conditions and requires minimal watering, making it an excellent choice for indoor cultivation and decorative displays without soil. Its compact size and soft, fuzzy leaves create a distinctive texture that appeals to collectors and enthusiasts alike. This species is also notable for its slow growth and delicate, star-shaped flowers that emerge sporadically, adding subtle ornamental interest. Recognized for its distinctive aesthetic and adaptability, Tillandsia tectorum has become a favored specimen among air plant aficionados and designers seeking low-maintenance yet visually striking plants.
