Description
Crassula pubescens subsp. radicans, commonly known as Large Red Carpet Stonecrop, is a low-growing succulent renowned for its dense mat-forming habit and vibrant red-tinged foliage that creates an eye-catching groundcover. Native to South Africa, this subspecies thrives in well-drained soils and full sun to partial shade, making it highly drought-tolerant and ideal for xeriscaping or rock gardens. Its distinctive pubescent (hairy) leaves contribute to its unique texture, while its trailing stems allow it to cascade attractively over edges or fill in crevices, providing excellent erosion control. This resilient succulent also produces small, star-shaped white flowers in late winter to early spring that add subtle seasonal interest. Valued for both its ornamental appeal and low maintenance, Large Red Carpet Stonecrop has gained recognition among gardeners seeking sustainable landscape solutions that combine beauty with environmental adaptability.
