Catharanthus roseus ‘Blockbuster Burgundy’ is a striking cultivar of the Madagascar periwinkle, renowned for its vibrant, deep burgundy blooms that provide a dramatic splash of color in garden beds and containers throughout warm seasons. This evergreen perennial, native to Madagascar, has been widely cultivated for its heat and drought tolerance, thriving in full sun and well-drained soils, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance landscapes in USDA zones 9-11. The ‘Blockbuster’ series is specifically bred for vigorous growth, exceptional disease resistance, and continuous flowering from spring through fall, setting it apart from traditional vinca varieties with its bolder flower colors and improved garden performance. Its glossy green foliage contrasts beautifully with the rich flower hues, attracting pollinators such as butterflies.
