Description
Impatiens x hybrida SunPatiens Spreading Variegated Salmon, commonly known as New Guinea Impatiens, is a vibrant and versatile annual that stands out for its striking variegated foliage and abundant salmon-colored blooms. This cultivar is part of the SunPatiens series, renowned for its exceptional tolerance to heat and sun compared to traditional impatiens, making it ideal for sunny landscapes where other impatiens might struggle. The spreading habit of SunPatiens Variegated Salmon provides a lush, cascading effect, perfect for ground cover or container displays, combining ornamental foliage with continuous flowering through the growing season. Originating from hybridization efforts to enhance durability and landscape appeal, New Guinea impatiens trace their lineage to species native to Papua New Guinea, selected for their larger flowers and greater sun tolerance. The variegated leaf pattern adds unique textural interest, elevating the aesthetic beyond typical impatiens varieties. The SunPatiens series, including this variegated salmon cultivar, has been recognized by various horticultural bodies for its garden performance and innovation in sun-tolerant annuals.
